Practice Labs virtual live-labs now available to all UK public sector organizations via the G-Cloud Digital Marketplace
Hands-on IT and digital experience for all public sector workers without having to buy their own hardware and software. Cloud-based Practice Labs cover fundamental digital and IT skills, plus more advanced topics suitable for IT staff skilling, upskilling and re-skilling.
Dartford, UK, October 2020: Practice Labs, the IT competency hub, is now a G-Cloud 12 Digital Marketplace supplier.
The G-Cloud framework is an agreement between suppliers and the government and is open to all public sector organizations and arm's length bodies. It is designed to make purchasing faster and more cost effective than entering into individual procurement contracts.
When asked what sort of public sector organization might benefit from this announcement, Practice Labs co-founder, Ricky Doyle, said:
"Times are hard and money is tight for all public sector organizations – particularly at the moment. Sadly, cybersecurity attacks on institutions are becoming more commonplace so it's important for all public sector employees to be digitally-savvy and cyber-aware. The most effective way to achieve this is through 'learning by doing'. By showing staff the potential impact of a cyberattack within a live-lab environment and demonstrating first-hand how a security threat can be recognised and avoided, public sector organizations can reduce the risk to their critical IT systems."
Paul Leenards, strategic education partner specialist at Practice Labs added:
"Learning by doing works equally well for the education sector, in terms of both teacher CPD and student knowledge retention. It isn't just pupils who need to be IT savvy!"
"Having worked with schools and colleges in the US for a number of years, we can now extend the provision of experiential digital and IT learning to UK teachers and their pupils. By accessing the latest hardware and software via the Cloud, theoretical classroom instruction is reinforced by virtual hands-on practice within a safe digital environment."
Topics covered within the Practice Labs library include: cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy and IT fundamentals, plus more IT-specific areas such as networking, operating systems, programming, ethical hacking, computer forensics and database management.
Schools, colleges, local enterprise partnerships and other public sector organizations can find Practice Labs on the G-Cloud Digital Marketplace here.
